GOOD POINTS:  The Fingerprints Examination Kit is a fantastic forensic set for children from the New Scotland Yard range by John Adams, and is packed full of excellent educational content and fun fingerprinting tools that will stimulate the minds of any budding young detective!

The kit is certainly one for older children, and the accompanying booklet contains lots of detailed information for them to learn about forensic science, crime scene examiners and fingerprint detection. The booklet also talks through activities and techniques for your child to try themselves using the accompanying tools, such as recording and lifting fingerprints...even solving a fictional robbery by using the crime case details provided, together with the knowledge they have learned, to identify the perpetrator (answers provided)!

A great feature of the kit is that it also encourages children to host their own 'crime scene' party. Guests become part of a role play crime scene game and must search for a series of clues, to lead them to evidence that they must then 'examine' to determine which of them is the culprit. A party invitation is included which can be photocopied to send out to friends, along with clue cards for hiding around the party location.

The kit includes a wonderful array of realistic forensic tools to make your child feel like they're really part of the action, including everything they could need to lift and record fingerprints at their crime scene, as well as a few other accessories such as yellow crime scene tape to seal off the area, a crime scene examiner's identification badge for them to fill out, three crime scene bags to collect evidence, and a fold-out magnifying glass to examine fingerprints in more detail.

Once your child has finished their investigation, the kit can be easily packed back up into its box, which has a handy carry handle for quick and easy transportation to the next crime case! In our opinion, this is a highly imaginative, factual and fun activity that provides a great game idea for birthday parties.

BAD POINTS:  No gloves are provided. The fingerprint powder may stain if it comes into contact with clothes and furniture. Only one party invitation is included which must be photocopied. Only one crime case is provided for your child to solve.
