GOOD POINTS:  The Impressions Examination Kit is a brilliant product from the New Scotland Yard range, which is aimed at children, and is full of educational content and fun tools to keep budding young detectives occupied for hours!

The kit is aimed at older children, and the instruction booklet contains masses of information for them to read up about forensic science, crime scene examiners and impressions such as tool and shoe marks. The booklet talks through activities for your child to try on their own using the included tools and equipment, such as creating and recording impressions. In addition, they are given crime case details on a fictional murder, which together with some practical exercises, they must use to solve the crime and identify the guilty person from a number of suspects (answers provided).

A wonderful added extra to the kit is that it provides details on how your child can host their own 'crime scene' party. Guests become part of a pretend crime scene game and must search for a series of clues, to lead them to evidence that they must then 'examine' to determine which of them is the culprit. A party invitation is included which can be photocopied to send out to friends, along with clue cards for hiding around the party location.

The kit includes some great forensic equipment for your child to experiment with, including clay, plaster, and moulds to create and record different types of marks and impressions, as well as a few other accessories such as yellow tape to seal off the crime scene area, a crime scene examiner's identification badge for your child to fill out, and three crime scene bags to collect evidence.

Once your child has finished their investigation, the kit can be easily packed back into its box, which has a useful carry handle for quick and easy transportation to the next crime case! In our opinion, this is certainly a unique game with a difference, packed full of informative content, fun practical activities, and party game accessories that boys and girls alike will love.

BAD POINTS:  No gloves are provided. The impression clay may dry up over time. Only one party invitation is included which must be photocopied. Only one crime case is provided for your child to solve.
