PRODUCT:  National Geographic 4 x 30 BinocularsNational Geographic Binoculars

DESCRIPTION:  A hinged pair of yellow and black binoculars, including 30mm glass objective lenses, rubber coated eyecups, rubber trim, built-in compass, and strap. Suitable for children aged 6 years upwards.

GOOD POINTS:  These make a great, and reasonably priced, first pair of binoculars for your child. They are brightly coloured with a handy carry strap which makes them difficult to lose, and are study and durable to withstand rough handling.

They are an ideal size for small hands to manage, and the rubber trim gives excellent grip. The great feature of the binoculars is the central hinge which allows the distance between the two eyepiece tubes to be adjusted to cater for younger as well as older children.

Focusing in and out is achieved via a central wheel on the bridge of the binoculars. However, low magnification (4 x) requires a lesser need to focus, which essentially makes them more child-friendly to use. Another bonus feature of the binoculars is an integral compass on the top, which can be used to determine the direction of objects to view, thereby stimulating curiosity and learning.

In our opinion, these are a study and relatively lightweight pair of binoculars that are perfect for experimentation and inquisitive young minds!

BAD POINTS:  The focus wheel is quite stiff for young children to operate. The sharpness and brightness of the view are not as clear as they could be, although are adequate as a first pair of binoculars. The eyepiece tubes do not have individual eye adjustment.

PRICE:  Approx. £5
