Press Release: Orchard Toys donation benefits hundreds of UK charities

A brighter Christmas for thousands of disadvantaged
children across the UK
Over 500 different charities registered with In Kind Direct, one of The Prince's Charities, are set to benefit from the generous donation of over 7,000 games and jigsaw puzzles from the toy manufacturer, Orchard Toys, just in time for Christmas!
Nurseries, hospices, disability groups, women's refuges and community groups are among the 230 charities which have already received jigsaws and games for use in their operations helping people in need. In Kind Direct estimate that, in total, over 500 different groups will benefit from the 20 pallets of games and jigsaws received.
One charity that has already received products from the Orchard Toys donation is Kids' City in South London. The charity provides activities for around 2,000 children per week through breakfast clubs, after school clubs and school holiday play schemes in Lambeth, Wandsworth and Merton.
Chief Executive Jackie Nunns says: "We aim to put an educational toy or product into the hands of each child each year as a Christmas present. We are on a very tight budget, particularly since the local authorities cut our funding. Because of In Kind Direct we are able to continue to give children educational opportunities. The games we received from Orchard Toys have been fantastic this year - we are handing them out at the Christmas parties at each club next week. With In Kind Direct the quality of the goods is guaranteed; as an educational charity we want to ensure we are giving children high quality play and learning opportunities".
Simon Newbery, MD at Orchard Toys says, "It gives us enormous pleasure to know that these jigsaws and games will bring a little joy to such deserving causes this Christmas. Without In Kind Direct, we could only hope to reach a few of these children, so we are indebted to them for providing the means to ensure that these products will serve their intended purpose."
James Williams, Deputy CEO at In Kind Direct followed by saying: "Many charities are struggling to make ends meet in the current climate. This donation is exactly the kind of product that makes such a difference to disadvantaged communities at this time of year."
