Award-winning innovative family camping brand Outwell has addressed the cost of running electrical accessories by producing a range of free Outwell Vento Wind-upenergy radios and lanterns that can be topped up using solar power and wind-up technology.

Not only do such products allow complete independence, but they are also ideal for use when the radio or lantern may be accidentally left on. No more wasted money replacing batteries when the kids leave the light on – just recharge in the sun or wind for power!

There are four free-standing lanterns that can also be hung from your tent. They feature a stylish silver finish with black rubberised sections for protection. The Helios and Soley come with solar panels to keep the power topped up. The 24-LED, 40-Lumen Helios has an approximate operating time of four hours and can be recharged using the supplied 230V cable pack or the 12V car charger. The smaller Soley’s five LEDs produce 15 Lumens for the battery life of approximately 24 hours.

Outwell Helios SolarThe Vento and Ignis use the latest wind-up technology. Wind up the Vento for a minute (180 turns) to keep the six LED lantern producing seven Lumens for 25 minutes. The 12 LEDs in the Ignis will produce 20 minutes of light at 35 Lumens if the lantern is wound for five minutes at 130 turns per minute.

Outwell has also produced two radios. The distinct cube-shaped Broadcast FM/AM radio uses solar power or wind-up technology. It has an operating time of approximately seven hours when fully charged. The good-looking On Air Digital FM/AM radio features a digital display and can also be recharged through a USB lead – and be used to recharge a mobile phone. The radio has an approximate eight hour operating time.

RRP Helios £39.99; Soley £13.99; Ignis £24.99; Vento £14.99; Broadcast £14.99; On Air £29.99
