When it comes to parenting, it seems we never miss an opportunity to put our poor chaps down!

Whether it's assuming that he's just not as good as mum at all that childcare multi-tasking or complaining that his busy work schedule always gets in the way, there is often nothing men can get right.

One company, however, is on a mission to set the record straight and give men credit where it's due this Father's Day, with the launch of a national competition dedicated to celebrating the greatness of blokes across the country.

For the second year running, the hunt is on for the UK's MEGA Bloke of the Year.
The award has been devised by a well-known toy company in association with popular parenting website,
www.madeformums.com, who together are inviting readers to tell them about the fantastic men in their lives with the goal of finding the UK's MEGA Bloke.

MEGA Bloks, the UK's market leader in junior construction toys for infants and toddlers, came up with the idea for the awards last year as part of its 25th Birthday celebrations.  The company believes men are often forgotten about when it comes to praise, and that dads, granddads, partners, uncles and brothers up and down the country deserve to be recognised.

"We were so impressed by the success of the MEGA Bloke competition last summer that we felt really strongly about running it again and this time we want it to be bigger and better!  We had hundreds of amazing entries, all with a unique story to tell so you can imagine how difficult it was to pick a winner!  Whilst every dad or husband is brilliant in his own way, we want to find the ones who, in their families eyes, just go that extra mile or overcome other challenges, to make their loved ones feel especially cherished," said Pete Fuller, MEGA Bloks' UK Marketing Manager.

Susie Boone, editor of www.madeformums.com added: "We are delighted to be part of this great initiative again this summer. Father's Day is a perfect time to highlight different ways dads and brothers, uncles, granddads and close male family friends play a vital part in family life. Often husbands and partners are the unsung heroes - it's great to have an opportunity to celebrate their stories too."

Picked from an impressive shortlist of 10 MEGA Blokes, Rob Foster from Deeside was crowned MEGA Bloke of the Year 2010.  Rob commented, "My wife put me forward for the competition without me knowing and I was thrilled yet very surprised to be chosen as the winner.  I love my family to pieces and, to me, all the things I do is just part of my job as a dad and husband.  We had a great weekend away as part of our prize to spend some quality time together and the kids loved the MEGA Bloks toys too".

For the chance to see your husband, partner, dad, uncle, granddad or brother be crowned the MEGA Bloke of the Year 2011, please visit www.madeformums.com to enter.  The competition closes on the 31st August 2011.

The lucky winner will receive a fabulous 3 night break to one of five Luxury Family Hotels (www.luxuryfamilyhotels.co.uk), the new MEGA Bloke trophy and MEGA bloke toys.
